We’re proud to be a part of Manchester. Our campus sits at the heart of the city centre, yet our impact reaches around the world.

Ambitious and committed

This is a big institution with even bigger ambitions.

We have over 4,000 staff members, around 40,000 students – with about 6,000 choosing to study for a postgraduate qualification.

We offer more than 250 postgraduate taught programmes and have 14 centres of research expertise. We have high standards with clear objectives to excel in education and build our research profile.

You can see it best in how we’re committed to investment. As well as our £400m campus and University infrastructure upgrade, we invest in our people – making Manchester Metropolitan a place for professors at the peak of their powers.

Drive groundbreaking research

As the second-ranked modern university for research power, ranked 38th in the UK overall*, we’re already one of the leading research environments in the sector.

We’re looking for people with the ability, confidence and determination to help us accelerate our growth in research.

Work in a multidisciplinary setting across several departments with the freedom to tailor your development and build your academic reputation.

Not only will you be bringing your skill and expertise, but you’ll also be responsible for mentoring others and promoting a cooperative and intellectually curious research culture.

Be supported and feel valued

We understand that research culture is of the highest importance to professors. It’s why we work in a different way.

This is a place where you will feel valued – a collaborative workplace with a collegiate atmosphere and the scope for personal growth.

It’s welcoming, inclusive, diverse, ambitious, challenging, stimulating, rewarding and supportive – all at the same time.

And whether it’s the good work-life balance that we promise or that we’re proud to be the UK’s number 1 sustainable University**, good ethics are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re champions of diversity and inclusion, so whatever your background and circumstances, we offer opportunities for all.

Getting around

Manchester, and the wider city region, is easy to get to and to navigate. It has some of the UK’s main motorways, the Metrolink tram service and bus networks.

Excellent rail links connect the city to the rest of the country, and just a 17-minute drive away from campus is Manchester Airport – the UK’s busiest outside of London.

Plus, if you need it, we have a professional relocation service to support you throughout your move to the UK and Manchester, including offering guidance on visas.
